Individualized, community-based support helping individuals and families experiencing housing instability, homelessness, or barriers to maintaining safe and stable housing.
The John Howard Society of PEI’s Wrap Around Housing Program provides individualized support to individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness, housing instability, eviction, or inadequate housing.
Our approach recognizes that safe, stable housing is an essential foundation for well-being. Participants work alongside a Case Worker to identify their housing needs, build on their strengths, overcome barriers, and develop practical strategies for achieving and maintaining housing stability.
Housing searches, suitable accommodation and support maintaining housing.
Goal setting, individualized goals and action plans.
Consistent case management, appointments, referrals and service coordination.
Life-skills, tenancy support and housing-stability skill building.

The program is available to individuals and families experiencing relative or absolute homelessness, as well as those facing other significant housing challenges.
Wrap Around Housing services are available in Summerside and Charlottetown as well as rural and remote communities across Prince Edward Island, including Rural Queens County and East Prince County.
The Independent Housing Program is a collaborative initiative between the John Howard Society of Prince Edward Island and the Government of Prince Edward Island, providing safe, stable, and supportive housing for individuals who face barriers to securing or maintaining housing.
The program recognizes that stable housing is an important foundation for well-being, community connection, and long-term independence. Participants receive individualized support designed to help them maintain their housing, build practical life skills, connect with community resources, and work toward their personal goals.
Our Case Worker has office space in the building in Charlottetown where the clients live. This makes the Case Worker accessible for the people living there but also ensures that there is oversight of the building itself
Through a person-centred approach, JHS PEI works alongside participants to identify their strengths, needs, and priorities. Support may include assistance with daily living skills, accessing health and social services, employment and education resources, financial planning, and connections to other community supports.
By bringing together housing and individualized support, the program helps create a more stable environment where participants can focus on their goals and build the skills and connections needed to move forward.
The Independent Housing Program reflects a shared commitment by JHS PEI and the Government of Prince Edward Island to strengthening housing stability, supporting individuals in their communities, and helping people achieve greater independence and quality of life.

We believe every person brings their own strengths, experiences, and goals. Our role is to work with participants—not simply for them—to identify practical solutions and build on existing strengths.
Case Workers provide consistent, relationship-based support and help participants navigate systems that can sometimes feel overwhelming or difficult to access. By coordinating services and reducing barriers, the program helps participants take meaningful steps toward greater independence, stability, and connection to their community.
The goal of Wrap-Around Housing Case Management is to help participants obtain, maintain, and strengthen housing stability while addressing the factors that can make long-term housing security difficult.
Through individualized support, advocacy, and collaboration with community partners, participants are supported in developing the skills, connections, and resources needed to move toward greater stability and independence.
Serving individuals aged 18+ throughout Prince and Queens Counties who are Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents as well as being a PEI resident

Supporting a successful transition from custody to safe, stable housing
The John Howard Society of PEI’s Provincial Correctional Centre Homelessness Program supports individuals who are experiencing, or are at risk of, homelessness as they prepare to transition from the Provincial Correctional Centre back into the community.
We recognize that securing safe and stable housing is an important part of successful community reintegration. Without appropriate housing and support, individuals leaving custody can face significant barriers to employment, health and wellness, family connections, and long-term stability. Our program works with participants before release to help address these barriers and create a practical plan for housing and community supports.
Our approach is client-centred, and focused on practical solutions. Staff work alongside participants to understand their individual circumstances, identify their housing goals, and connect them with resources that can support a successful transition.
Support may include:
Whenever possible, housing planning begins before an individual leaves the Provincial Correctional Centre. Early intervention allows participants and staff to identify potential barriers, explore available options, and establish connections with community services before release.
The goal is not simply to find a place to stay. It is to help each participant move toward safe, appropriate, and sustainable housing while connecting them with the supports they identify as important to their success.
The program works collaboratively with correctional staff, housing providers, community organizations, government services, and other partners. Through these connections, participants can access a coordinated network of supports as they transition from custody to community living.
This collaborative approach reflects the John Howard Society of PEI’s commitment to addressing both homelessness and incarceration through prevention, diversion, and strong community partnerships
